Why is it relevant?

The COVID-19 pandemic disrupted every industry, forcing employees to work from home. As the pandemic winds down, employers have started instituting their Return to Office (RTO) policies. Employees are facing frustration trying to find parking on in-office days, making the RTO experience even less palatable, thereby risking higher attrition rates and reduced hiring rates.

What is it?

The Parking Lottery is a perk that employers offer their in-office employees. The Parking Lottery gamifies the parking experience, giving employees a chance to win the opportunity to park in a coveted spot when they're in the office. The chance for this small victory can ease some employees' frustration with the in-office experience, leading to higher employee retention. The Parking Lottery also can serve as a differentiator to attract new talent.

How does it work?

An employer enrolled in the Parking Lottery provides a list of employees who are eligible for the lottery ("Parkers"), as well as the number of parking spots that are up for grabs. For every drawing, the Parking Lottery selects random Parkers for the target parking spots, and sends a notification to the winners. The winning Parkers get to park like rock stars for the duration of that lottery.
